Bed wedges are firm, sloped cushions used to raise the upper body or legs while resting in bed. This collection includes foam and inflatable bed wedges and leg wedges in several heights and sizes.

Types of wedges

Upper body bed wedges: Alex Orthopedic bed wedges in 7 and 12 inch heights, a dual-position convoluted foam wedge, and an inflatable 8 inch wedge with a cover and pump that packs down for travel.
Leg wedges: lower wedges placed under the knees and calves, such as the Alex Orthopedic 8 inch leg wedge.
Positioning wedges: a 45 degree Body Aligner wedge and a vinyl-covered foam wedge for side-lying and general positioning.

How to choose

Compare the height, the angle and the footprint of each wedge against the bed it will sit on. Firm foam keeps its shape, while inflatable wedges can be adjusted and stored flat. Removable, washable covers make care easier. If a wedge is part of a care plan, talk with your doctor about the height and position that suit you.
